2011 Program Summary
YPAA’s national programs centre around our goals of:
leading sector advancements and policy changes; and
- increased partnership exchanges
- invigorating sector development
- strengthening YPAA’s position as the national peak advocate and professional association for the development of youth arts and culture
YPAA is committed to working with artists and artsworkers to identify their professional development, information and exchange needs. Through this identification process and full program of useful, interesting and skill developing workshops and activities can take place throughout the country.
YPAA has identified that skills development opportunities in youth arts are generally quite rare. Artists working with young people have a range of complexities to negotiate and often need specific support for the high pressure circumstances they work under, and as a result, this kind of working environment has seen a large turn-over of artists in the sector. Skills development programs can help to alleviate this pressure and provide invaluable opportunities to talk, refresh skills and debrief.
