Jim Lawson - Executive Director
Jim Lawson is an artist, educator and manager. He works across the arts, education and corporate sectors, locally and globally.
Jim is the recipient of several awards for his work as a performer and director and has also worked extensively in television and film.
More recently, Jim has managed and/or developed several distinctive programs for the Education Young People and Families team at the Arts Centre, Melbourne, such as Arts Connect 9, The DocU Project and Big Notes.
Jim has lived regionally in Victoria for many years, from the high country to the coast, and has a particular interest in the issues that impact regional and remote artists, educators and communities.
Imogene Shields – General Manager
Imogene is experienced and interested in arts management, marketing and communications, events and festival coordination and managing people; volunteers and artists from various artform practices. She considers arts management and effective communications as essential for the broader arts sector to operate collectively and to gain maximum momentum.
Imogene has lived and worked in both to Japan (Nagoya and Tokyo) and Canada (Quebec and Calgary). She thinks travel is a great way for young creatives to experience and explore new ideas and arts practices. Imogene has a degrees in Business (Management and Japanese) and Creative Industries (CI Management, Public Relations and Music) in Brisbane and Quebec.
Imogene first started at YPAA in 2009 as Communications Officer. Imogene’s professional experience includes Marketing and Communications Co-ordinator for Backbone Youth Arts’ 2008 2high Festival, Operations Manager and Volunteers Manager at the Calgary-Banff International Writers Festival, Administration Management at Metro Arts and promotions at Universal Music. Following the completion of her business management degree, and prior to her career in the arts, Imogene worked in a business consulting firm.
Imogene aspires to continue to support youth arts and creative events in the future with her business savvy and love of the arts. Outside work hours, she enjoys supporting and promoting local artists and events, travelling, attending arts and music events and is known for her love of things orange and vintage.

Catherine Baldwin is the Executive Director at Bangarra Dance Theatre. Catherine has previously worked in nonprofit management and governance, consulting to corporate foundations such as the newly formed Transfield Foundation.

Sam Appleton is a Senior Associate at the international law firm Baker & McKenzie. He practices as a commercial lawyer in the areas of securities, funds management and structured financial products. He is a keen supporter of the arts

Helen currently is the Education Manager at Sydney Theatre Company and produces STC Ed the Company’s comprehensive theatre programme for children and young audiences.

ASSITEJ International Representative, Noel Jordan
Adelaide
Noel works as Artistic Director of the ComeOut Festival. He is also an Adjunct Lecturer for the University of Sydney and a Partner Investigator on the TheatreSpace research project.
