What We Do
YPAA is the national peak body for organisations and practitioners that engage children and young people in the arts.
YPAA is also the national advocate for children and young people's rights to access arts and culture in Australia.
As an advocacy and service organisation, YPAA activates, promotes and sustainably develops the children and young people’s arts sector nationally. We do this by providing services and activities that assist, influence, inform and develop opportunities to increase arts engagement for children and young people. In doing so, we support participation in the arts as a fundamental right to developing children and young people’s imagination, creativity and individual potential.
YPAA provides a crucial link between members, the arts sector, the wider community and government, and services members across the country in professional services and sector development.
Organisation Goals
YPAA's organisational goals reflect the needs of the sector we serve. Over the next three years we seek to examine, bolster and reinvigorate our sector through:
- Partnership: broker and support partnerships between stakeholders that create collaborative exchange
- Infrastructure: vision, implement and evaluate strategic national and international infrastructure for the organisation and the youth arts and cultural development sector
- Leadership: advance the practice, policy, and professional outcomes for practitioners, organisations, children and young people in the arts
- Profile Building: position YPAA as Australia’s peak national advocate and professional association for the youth arts and cultural development sector
- Organisational Sustainability: build and maintain a strong organisation, ensuring adequate human and resource capabilities to sustain our development
